D2 - rework the weapons (Updated Wednesday November, 9 /2023)

I have tried to make this suggestion, and many others (respectfully I might add) no no avail.
Unfortunately Bungie has yet to respond in depth.
I guess they're either not interested or didn't have the time to read though it all.
OR perhaps they just didn't like what I had to say (although I can't imagine why 🤷‍♂️).
My ideas would ABSOLUTELY improve Destiny.
I'm confident of that.
..but you be the judge.

Anyway..
If it were up to me, to improve D2 significantly, I'd start by entirely removing leveling from weapons.
Please, just hear me out.

We'd of course still have to level our armour, but guns would adopt a more efficient mechanic.
I'll explain.
Leveling every gun each season is currently not only redundant and inconvenient, but actually counterproductive.
It only serves to add to the unwanted grind.
General grinding is certainly fine; don't get me wrong..
That's of course part of the game after all, but you've got to admit, when you really think about it, SOME of the grinding in Destiny 2 is so unneeded it unfortunately tends to cascade into unnecessary, widespread issues throughout the entire experience.

So here's my suggestion..
Remove weapon light/power, and replace it with a system that has a similar design to the original Destiny.
Except this won't require any upgrading..just unlocking.

In this concept, on each gun a dedicated inventory perk-tree will indicate EVERY available trait in the game, tailored to each specific weapon and/or archetype.

When you acquire a gun or offensive item, it'll still only drop with the same number of randomized perks that you would normally receive, but NOW you'll see every single one, whether or not they've been unlocked.
Perks you've acquired will be clearly visible and distinguishable from unobtained perks, which will remain greyed out until found.
This means, the more you obtain this weapon, the more you'll randomly unlock new perks.
Giving good reason to keep farming for it, and ALL other weapons as well.
..because once every perk is unlocked, you'll be able to create your own specific God-rolls (since God-rolls are mostly subjective anyway), and you'll do this without the insane level of requirements in the crafting system that has now been officially implemented.
If crafting is something you DO enjoy though, please keep in mind that it can still be used as a way to infuse enhanced perks and cosmetics.

In addition, once ALL perks have been acquired on an individual gun, a weapon specific bonus will then become available.

Note: you will only ever be able to activate the same amount of perks as you currently can.
Unlocking them merely provides switchable options.
BUT, just imagine what you could do with far fewer limitations than the current system.

In turn, this will ultimately solve a few other issues, that would alleviate many of our complaints, and also likely save Bungie some money in the process.

1. It'll remove the need to have the infamous and absurd "cannot reacquire randomized rolls" in the collections tab.
..and since light/power levels on guns won't matter, that will also allow us to delete things freely without worrying about permanent loss.
AND the few things we CAN already retrieve, won't need to be infused yet again.

2. It'll eliminate the need to keep multiples of each weapon (PvE & PvP rolls, infusion guns etc) in the vault.
Which almost entirely removes our continuously evolving need for additional space.

3. By freeing up a TON of server space, Bungie will be in a better position to keep content active, rather than "vaulting" or rotating to make room for newer content, because they're either unable or unwilling to spend the necessary money to upgrade to more efficient, larger, and dedicated servers.

4. The additional server space will inevitably prevent the need for further clean-up/condensing/partitioning, which in turn will likely reduce the biggest unacknowledged problem in PvP.
Latency.

If you're not aware of what latency is, my dedicated blog that explains the difference between latency, lag, and network manipulation can be found here:
5. It would also save us a LOT of glimmer and materials, and reduce that "unnecessary grind", as we wouldn't need to spend as much on weapons we've already acquired.
Thus we could more aptly focus our efforts on NEWLY found gear and guns instead.

There are undoubtedly plenty of ways to ensure Bungie is capable of continuing to provide engaging content, without requiring us to re-infuse every weapon's power level, with every majour update, so this solution COULD be extremely useful and quite fun as well, if properly considered.
Weapon power is rather dispensable as its removal wouldn't affect the game too dramatically.
So in my opinion it might as well be dispensed with sooner than later.

I'm certain I could continue on this topic, as I have no doubt there are other benefits to this idea.
..but I trust my point has been made clear.
I DO genuinely believe this concept, and my MANY other ideas, have the potential to positively impact the direction of Destiny 2.
Especially if they're properly designed and implemented.
Anything that can improve this game by reducing multiple issues HAS to be a good thing, right?

Edit:
As mentioned briefly above, I realize crafting has now been included, and to a degree has indirectly addressed this topic somewhat..
That said, I also believe the grind is still entirely too much, and as a result my concept is still easily the better permanent solution.

..but what do you think?
